Apple has released iOS 18.4.1 with critical security patches to address two recently discovered vulnerabilities. The update comes as a warning, urging users to upgrade immediately due to the potential for targeted attacks.
According to Apple and the Google Threat Analysis Group, two security flaws have been fixed in iOS 18.4.1: CVE-2025-31200 and CVE-2025-31201. These issues could result in code execution or arbitrary read and write capability, posing a significant threat to iPhone users.
While Apple doesn’t provide detailed information on the vulnerabilities, it’s clear that these flaws have been actively exploited. In fact, there’s evidence suggesting they’re being used in sophisticated attacks against journalists, dissidents, government officials, and businesses in certain sectors.
Sean Wright, an independent security researcher, emphasizes the importance of updating as soon as possible. “There’s no need to panic in most cases,” he says, but warns that attackers can use these flaws more widely if they get hold of the details.
The iOS 18.4.1 update also addresses several bugs, including a problem with wireless CarPlay connectivity in certain vehicles. The update is available for iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro models, and other compatible devices.
Users are urged to download and install iOS 18.4.1 now by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Don’t wait – take action today to protect your iPhone from potential threats.
