Ravens Edge Rusher Worth First-Round Pick Consideration

The Baltimore Ravens are evaluating their options for an edge rusher, considering a first-round pick to bolster their pass rush unit. Players like Kyle Van Noy, Odafe Oweh, and David Ojabo are nearing the end of their contracts, making it essential to think about the future.

Among the final year players, Donovan Ezeiruaku (Boston College) stands out due to his 16.5 sacks as a senior. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. praises him, saying he “plays like a Raven.” Other prospects linked to the Ravens include Mike Green (Marshall), James Pearce Jr. (Tennessee), Shemar Stewart (Texas A&M), and Mykel Williams (Georgia).

While some argue that drafting an edge rusher won’t be as impactful as having veterans like Van Noy or Oweh, a productive player for 2025 and beyond is worth consideration.

The Ravens have a strong roster, making it challenging to expect all 11 rookie picks to make the initial 53-man roster. General Manager Eric DeCosta acknowledged that history suggests not all players will make the cut. The team had one of its best draft classes in 2022, selecting Kyle Hamilton, Tyler Linderbaum, Isaiah Likely, and Travis Jones.

If the Ravens draft a wide receiver or running back on Day 3, it won’t be surprising. Ryan thinks they might take a receiver or running back if they’re the top player available at that point. Late-round prospects like Pat Bryant (Illinois) and Dont’e Thornton Jr. (Tennessee) could intrigue Baltimore.

Signing veteran cornerback Jack Jones is also possible after he was released by the Raiders. Jones would compete for playing time with Chidobe Awuzie, who was added to fill a need.
