A doctor in Berlin has been charged with 15 counts of murder with malice after allegations emerged that he killed his patients and set fire to their homes to cover up the evidence. The 40-year-old palliative care specialist is accused of administering anesthetic inducers and muscle relaxants to his patients without their consent, resulting in paralysis and death.
Prosecutors say the doctor had no motive for killing people other than a “lust for murder.” The victims ranged from 25 to 95 years old, with most dying in their own homes. Authorities have been investigating the case since August 2024, conducting 12 exhumations so far, including five related to this case.
The doctor has been held in pretrial detention and has not yet entered a plea deal. He faces a potential conviction and lifelong ban from the medical profession if convicted.
