The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a deal to hire NBA executive Scott Perry as their new general manager, according to ESPN sources. This move comes after the mutual departure of Monte McNair, who led the team for five seasons and ended an 16-year playoff drought in 2023.
Perry previously worked with the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and Seattle SuperSonics, before joining the Kings in 2017. During his time with the Kings, Perry oversaw a three-season stretch where the team won 40 or more games, ending a drought since the 2005-06 season.
Under McNair’s leadership, the Kings had a .488 win percentage and saw significant improvement from their previous years. However, McNair is leaving after a tumultuous few weeks, which included the departure of assistant GM Wes Wilcox to become the University of Utah men’s basketball team’s new general manager.
