Jamie Foxx is back from a recent health scare, and he’s returning to comedy with his new standup special “What Had Happened Was,” set to hit Netflix on December 10. The first trailer for the special shows Foxx triumphantly walking onto the stage after being hospitalized in April 2023 due to a medical complication.
Foxx expressed his gratitude to his fans, saying he’s glad to be back and teases the title of his new special. In an earlier interview, Corinne Foxx revealed her father had experienced a “medical complication” that resulted in his hospitalization in Georgia. Luckily, Foxx is on the road to recovery.
Foxx shared brief updates on Instagram and later released a video update explaining why he didn’t make any videos after his health scare. He clarified rumors that he went blind or became paralyzed, saying instead that he had a tough road to recovery but is now able to work.
In another interview, Foxx acknowledged his health scare while accepting the Vanguard Award at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television: Honoring Black, Latino and AAPI Achievements. He also talked about an unusual phenomenon during his experience, saying he saw a tunnel but not the light.
Foxx shared that filming his new standup special wasn’t the most pleasant experience due to the worry of what the audience might laugh or not laugh at. Despite this, Foxx is ready to return to comedy with “What Had Happened Was,” which promises to be an entertaining show.
