XChat May Replace DMs with End-to-End Encryption

Elon Musk’s company is reportedly replacing Direct Messages (DMs) on X with a new chat platform called XChat. A software engineer, Zach Warunek, recently stated that “the whole entire DMs will be gone soon.” This suggests that the company plans to discontinue traditional messaging and introduce a full-fledged chatting system instead.

Rumors about XChat have been circulating for months, with alleged screenshots showing features such as end-to-end encryption, file transfers, and secure messaging capabilities. The latest leak from @P4mui provides more details on the platform’s features, including fully encrypted messages, file sharing, and individual message deletion.

While a specific timeline has not been confirmed, Warunek did clarify that XChat will not replace traditional “request messages” but rather eliminate DMs altogether. As Elon Musk has stated plans to use X for texts and calls only within the next few months, it’s likely that XChat will be rolled out soon.
