Ukraine Hacks Russian Missile Base with Kamikaze Drones

A Ukrainian kamikaze drone attack hit multiple facilities at Russia’s 112th Missile Brigade base in eastern Russia, causing large-scale fires and significant damage. The attack occurred on Tuesday morning and targeted at least three key military units, including the headquarters, barracks, and training facility.

The attack appears to have caught Russian troops off guard, with no alert issued about the approaching drones. Ukrainian forces have been operationally deploying their new Liutyi drones since January 2024, conducting precise strikes deep inside Russia and crippling high-value industrial assets across an 800km radius of Ukraine’s borders.

Ukrainian Defense Intelligence confirmed that both the 112th and 448th Russian missile brigades were involved in a recent missile attack on Sumy. The missiles launched from various locations are believed to be Iskander-M or North Korean KN-23 cluster missiles.

The incident is part of a series of attacks by Ukraine targeting Russian military bases, with another strike reported against the 448th Missile Brigade on April 15. HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov vowed that those responsible for war crimes would face justice, emphasizing Ukraine’s commitment to holding accountable those who give orders or launch missiles.
