Gunman Wounds 6 At Florida State University, Kills 2

A shooting incident occurred at Florida State University (FSU) on Thursday, resulting in two fatalities and six injuries. The suspect, identified as a 20-year-old FSU student and the son of a local sheriff’s deputy, was taken into custody and also hospitalized.

The victims who died were not students, according to FSU Police Chief Jason Trumbower and Tallahassee Police Department spokesperson Alicia Hill. Five of the injured students were transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds. The suspect used a handgun in the shooting and had also carried a shotgun but no confirmed shots were fired with it.

President Donald Trump expressed his stance on gun control, stating that people, not guns, are responsible for violent actions. FSU’s College Democrats condemned the incident as a “completely preventable act of senseless violence.”

Law enforcement has neutralized the threat, and several buildings at the university are being treated as active crime scenes. Authorities have confirmed one person is in custody, with a news conference expected later today.

The incident brings back memories of previous campus shootings, including one that occurred on FSU’s campus in 2014. FBI agents from the Jacksonville office are assisting local law enforcement with their investigation.
