Lando Norris Sets Pace at Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Practice

Lando Norris says he’s “on the right track” for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after setting the pace in Friday practice. The British driver led his team-mate Oscar Piastri by 0.163 seconds, despite a crash for Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda during the second session.

Norris has admitted to not being comfortable with the new McLaren car since the start of the season, but he’s focusing on gaining confidence in the car. He said: “A pretty decent first day. I’m gaining confidence and feeling good.”

Piastri, who won last weekend in Bahrain, was fourth fastest, 0.202 seconds behind Norris. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was fifth, ahead of Williams’ Carlos Sainz.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen ended the day third fastest, despite struggling with pace. He said: “We tried some different things and learned a lot from it. Still not where I wanted to be.”

Hamilton admitted to struggling, finishing 13th and 0.622 seconds slower than Leclerc in the second session. Despite the challenges, Norris remains confident that McLaren has the edge on the competition.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix takes place at Jeddah’s street track, which is known for its high speeds and tight corners. The three-day event will conclude on Sunday with a 18:00 BST start time.
