For the first time in eight seasons, 911 has killed off a core cast member. Captain Bobby Nash, played by Peter Krause, sacrifices his life to save his crew in the April 17 episode “Lab Rats.” The show’s creator and co-creator Tim Minear and executive producers acknowledged this bold move as a fitting conclusion for Nash’s character.
Krause acknowledges that fans may be upset by this loss, but he defends the decision. He states, “It was more than a bold creative choice on a bold show… Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this.” Krause credits Minear with making sense of his character’s story arc, which honors the sacrifices made by first responders.
Krause thanks various individuals, including castmates, executive producers, crew members, technical advisers, and real-life firefighters, who helped bring a sense of realism to his character. He also praises the show’s writers and directors for their hard work, expressing gratitude towards the entire 911 family.
