Nintendo has announced that retail preorders for its new Switch 2 gaming system will begin on April 24, with a starting price of $449.99 in the US. The company initially planned to start preorders on April 9 but delayed the date to assess the impact of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
The Switch 2 will have the same prices as previously announced for games and bundles, including “Mario Kart World” and its digital version “Donkey Kong Bananza.” However, accessories like the dock set will increase in price by $10, while the controller strap will cost $1 more.
Retailer Best Buy has also confirmed that it will start accepting preorders on April 24 for the Switch 2 console, games, and accessories. The company plans to open its stores at midnight on June 5, allowing customers to purchase their new consoles immediately.
Nintendo’s CEO apologized for the delay and thanked customers for their patience, expressing excitement for gamers to experience the new Switch 2 starting in June 2025.
