Windows 10’s 10-year support period is coming to an end on October 14, 2025. To encourage users to switch, Microsoft has released a support document with seven tips to get the most out of Windows 11.
The tips include praising the new Start Menu and Snap layouts, which can boost productivity. Users are also encouraged to create multiple desktops for organization and use widgets for personalized news and updates. Additionally, the company advocates breaking tasks into manageable chunks using Focus sessions, logging in with Windows Hello for facial recognition, and enabling Dark mode.
However, reactions to the document have been mixed, with some criticizing its lack of convincing reasons to upgrade. The tips have been described as “underwhelming” and raise questions about Microsoft’s ability to persuade users to switch to the new version.
As October 14 approaches, users will no longer receive software updates for Windows 10. With this deadline looming, Microsoft must convince more users to make the switch to Windows 11 if it wants to extend its support period.
