However, some situations still require an in-person visit to confirm identity, including applying for or changing certain types of benefits, updating direct deposit information, or requesting a paper check change. In these cases, it’s essential to schedule an appointment at your local SSA office.
Meanwhile, the agency also offers various online services, such as applying for benefits, updating contact details, and checking application status, which can be handled without visiting an office. The SSA encourages users to start their process online and book an appointment if needed, promoting a smoother experience.
