Ryan Gosling is set to join the Star Wars galaxy with a new film directed by Shawn Levy, which is still under development at Lucasfilm. The project was announced during Star Wars Celebration Japan, where director and co-star Ryan Gosling appeared on stage alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni.
Gosling will play a brand-new character in the film, set approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The movie is expected to go into production this fall and is scheduled for release on Memorial Day 2027.
Shawn Levy, known for directing Marvel’s hit films Deadpool & Wolverine, has also previously produced several theatrical projects at Lucasfilm, including a new trilogy by Simon Kinberg and James Mangold-directed films. Star Wars: Starfighter marks Gosling’s entry into the iconic sci-fi franchise, further expanding the galaxy of beloved characters.
