Hugh Dancy on Price and Benson’s Turbulent Partnership in Law & Order Crossover

The highly anticipated crossover between Law & Order and its spin-off Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) has finally arrived, bringing together the two iconic franchises. The event, titled “Play With Fire,” sees Hugh Dancy’s character, Detective Price, team up with Benson (Mariska Hargitay) to track down a serial rapist and murderer.

The storyline is deeply personal for both Benson and Brady (Maura Tierney), as one of the victims is Maria, the young girl Benson rescued and later mentored. The case becomes even more complex when it’s revealed that Maria’s lieutenant is responsible, leading to a tense confrontation with Benson’s son at school.

Dancy reveals that his character has no qualms about Benson recusing herself from the case, as he knows it would be in her best interest and for the sake of the investigation. The two leads are able to work together effectively due to their shared emotional understanding and similar goals.

When asked about his favorite scene to film, Dancy praises the personal dynamic between Price and Benson, which adds depth to the story. As for future projects, Dancy is looking forward to a well-deserved break but expressed enthusiasm for continuing the partnership in the future.

The season finale promises to be intense, involving one of the characters in a more personal way than anticipated, and leaving Price questioning his relationships with his colleagues. With Law & Order and SVU set to continue their crossovers, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for Hugh Dancy’s character, Detective Price.
