Aaron Tawiah and his wife Ebonee took a leap of faith when they lost their finance job in 2020. With their first child on the way, they needed to act fast. They decided to pursue their long-held dream of real estate development, investing $20,000 into their first single-family fix-and-flip project.
The venture paid off, and today, the Charlotte couple is celebrating their 20th project with the launch of Black Star Villas in Kannapolis, N.C. The multifamily development features six three-bedroom units with luxury features and custom style. Construction is set to begin in early 2025 and be completed by the end of the year.
The Tawiahs’ journey into real estate began in 2018 when Aaron felt an urge to leave his corporate job. They started wholesaling properties, then shifted to a fix-and-flip model after going full-time into their business in 2020. After a few successful house flips, they decided to build their own projects from the ground up.
Today, A&E Investors focuses on new builds, with Ebonee handling project management and interior design, while Aaron handles construction and sales. The couple’s key to success is “staying in your lane,” allowing them to maintain separate roles and avoid overlap.
The Tawiahs chose Kannapolis for its proximity to Charlotte and affordability, which they believe will attract homebuyers looking for unique living spaces at an affordable price. Ebonee’s design philosophy, “luxury meets affordability,” reflects the growing demand for well-designed homes in the market.
Black Star Villas is currently in the permitting phase, with pre-sales expected to begin in early 2025. The couple plans to expand their portfolio with more single-family homes and multifamily properties.
