Nationwide Economic Boycott Planned for Easter Weekend

Activists are calling for a three-day economic boycott from Friday through Sunday, with organizers urging people to avoid buying anything online or in-store from major businesses, including retailers, restaurants, and banks. The People’s Union USA is leading the effort, encouraging participants to spend only on essential purchases at small, local businesses using cash instead of credit or debit cards.

The boycott is part of a larger series of retailer-specific protests targeting corporate greed and diversity issues. Other upcoming boycotts include Amazon and Walmart in May, Target and McDonald’s in June. Analysts have noted mixed results from previous economic boycotts, but organizers believe it remains an effective way to pressure corporations.

To coincide with the three-day boycott, a national day of action is planned for Saturday, featuring protests in hundreds of cities. However, some groups are opting for alternative events such as food drives and nature cleanups. The boycott aims to raise awareness about financial struggles and encourage individuals to take control by withholding their money.
