Easter Egg Shortage Averted, Prices Stay Steady

Easter egg supplies have held steady despite initial concerns of a shortage or high prices. Two days before Easter, retailers reported no major issues with availability. Stewarts supermarket lifted its three-dozen limit on egg purchases six weeks ago as supply increased.

According to Robin Cooper, spokesman for Stewarts, the company’s 75-year-old relationship with a local farm keeps prices low and supplies high. He attributes steady demand throughout the season, driven by traditional holiday sales, rather than price concerns.

Price Chopper also saw strong “traditional demand” this Easter, with enough supply on hand. Mona Golub reports that egg prices have dropped to under six dollars per dozen, and are expected to continue decreasing. This news comes after retailers initially predicted potential shortages or high prices due to increased demand during the holiday season.
