Demand for MicroSD Express cards has skyrocketed due to Nintendo’s announcement that they will be the primary external memory cards for the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Hermitage Akihabara staff in Japan reported selling over 337 cards per hour since the announcement, indicating a high demand for these cards once the console launches on June 5th.
Hori, a renowned peripheral manufacturer, has partnered with Nintendo to produce their own Switch branded microSD cards. These premium cards come in 16GB and 32GB sizes and feature the Nintendo Switch logo. In contrast, SanDisk is launching Pokémon-themed microSD cards, including Pikachu (256GB), Gengar (512GB), and Snorlax (1TB) options.
The prices of these new cards vary significantly, making them a lucrative investment for manufacturers and consumers alike. With the console’s launch approaching, fans are eagerly anticipating good sales during holiday seasons.
