US Strikes Houthi-Run Yemen Port Amid Ongoing Aerial Campaign

The War Zone has obtained satellite imagery showing substantial damage at the Houthi-controlled port of Ras Isa in Yemen, following a U.S. airstrike on Thursday. The strike was intended to cut off the Houthis’ fuel supply, as they use it to sustain their military operations and benefit economically from embezzling profits.

According to CENTCOM, multiple explosions occurred in the port at 11 p.m. local time, but no vessels were reportedly damaged. However, oil storage tanks were destroyed, a jetty was damaged, and other infrastructure was affected. The attack has raised concerns about escalation in the region as the world watches ongoing talks between the U.S. and Iran over the Islamic nation’s nuclear program.

The Yemen-based Houthi group continues to carry out attacks on Red Sea shipping and Israel despite U.S. efforts to stop them. The French Navy recently released a video showing one of its frigates firing on a Houthi aerial drone, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by the group.

As negotiations between the U.S. and Iran reach a critical juncture, the region remains volatile. A U.S. strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities could send the region into unprecedented turmoil, and the world is watching nervously as these talks unfold.
