Aldi has issued a notice that some of its pork carnitas sold nationwide may contain metal pieces due to contamination. The affected product is made by Cargill Meat Solutions, one of the nation’s largest food producers, and was slow-cooked with citrus on 1-pound trays with use-by dates of June 30 or July 1, 2025.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) alerted consumers to the potential issue after Cargill notified them of equipment damage that may have contaminated the products. The metal pieces were found during routine process checks at the company’s protein processing plant in Round Rock, Texas.
Consumers who purchased the affected product are advised to return it to their local Aldi store for a refund. If they have any questions or concerns, they can contact Cargill directly at 844-419-1574.
