Yemen’s Houthi rebels reported that the US military conducted airstrikes on the capital city of Sanaa and a coastal city called Hodeida, less than two days after a strike killed over 70 people in the Red Sea port of Ras Isa. The Houthis said 13 US airstrikes targeted an airport and a port in Hodeida, with no immediate reports of casualties.
The US military’s Central Command confirmed that it is continuing to conduct strikes against the Houthis in Yemen but declined to comment on possible civilian casualties. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern over the attack on Ras Isa and appealed for respect of international law and civilians. The US bombing campaign, launched last month, has resulted in around 200 deaths according to the Houthi health ministry.
