id Software and Bethesda Softworks have released a new trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages, showcasing the game’s dark story, violent gameplay, and epic demon-slaying action. The trailer was shown during WWE’s WrestleMania 41 event.
The game is billed as a prequel to the 2016 DOOM and promises to be the most narrative-focused entry in the series yet. It will depict the events that led up to the original DOOM, featuring cutscenes and world-building lore. The gameplay trailer showcases an epic montage of combat set to the game’s heavy metal soundtrack.
Players will use a new Saw Shield to parry incoming attacks and throw it to rip demons to pieces. They’ll also wield medieval-themed weapons and take on building-sized demons with their Titan-mech and cyborg dragon. The trailer ends with scenes implying that the DOOM Slayer may have finally met his match, featuring a towering, gargantuan demon.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is one of the most anticipated upcoming Xbox games and PC games of the year, with a focus on storytelling and gorgeous, metal-inspired graphics. The game’s brutal combat system blends fast-paced gunplay with split-second parrying and melee attacks, set against epic backdrops. Fans are eager to experience the series’ signature gameplay once again.
The game is set to launch on May 15, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC via Windows and Steam, and Xbox Game Pass.
