Skyblivion Project Moves Forward Despite Oblivion Remaster Rumors

The developers behind the fan project Skyblivion, which aims to port The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion to the Skyrim engine, have confirmed they will continue their work despite rumors of an official remaster supervised by Bethesda.

The team, who began development in 2012, is on track for a release later this year. In a statement, they expressed excitement about the prospect of a professional Oblivion remake and emphasized that players would be the true winners, having access to both their community-driven project and a modern, professionally developed version of the game.

The team believes an official remaster presents an opportunity for console players to experience Oblivion, which is currently only available as a PC mod. They also see no need for competition between Skyblivion and a potential official remaster, instead viewing them as complementary projects offering unique experiences for fans.

Skyblivion’s development team thanks their community for their support and enthusiasm throughout the project’s journey, while also acknowledging the effort and artistry involved in an official Oblivion remaster. The release of Skyblivion is scheduled for 2025.
