Leeds United has secured promotion back to the Premier League after a dominant season in the Championship. The Whites finished third with 90 points, just two points behind second-placed Burnley and five points clear of Sheffield United in third place.
Daniel Farke’s side had a strong squad, despite losing key players such as Archie Gray to Tottenham and Crysencio Summerville to West Ham. However, the arrivals of Joe Rodon from Spurs, Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United, and Ao Tanaka from Japan bolstered the team’s quality.
Leeds started slowly, with no wins in their first three games. But they quickly found their rhythm, winning 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday and going on a three-month unbeaten run that included a 7-0 demolition of Cardiff. The team then went on to beat top-four rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United, leaving them five points clear at the top.
However, a lackluster finish saw Leeds lose just one win from five in March, and they were briefly dropped to first place after a 2-2 draw with Swansea. But Daniel Farke’s side rebounded strongly, going on to secure promotion with two games to spare thanks to Burnley’s loss at the hands of Burnley.
Farke is now closing in on his third title at this level, following wins with Norwich in 2019 and 2021. The Leeds fans will be relieved that their team has avoided the worrying trend of teams being promoted to the Premier League only to drop back down after a single season.
