Joe Rogan Roasts Katy Perry’s Blue Origin Space Flight

Comedian Joe Rogan took aim at pop star Katy Perry during his recent podcast, targeting her brief trip aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. The 11-minute journey marked the 104th time a woman has traveled past the Karman Line, the internationally recognized edge of space.

Rogan mocked Perry for bringing a daisy on board, which she flashed to the cameras as the crew floated around the capsule. He joked that the dead daisy showed how quick the flight was. However, Perry had explained that she brought the flower as a tribute to her daughter, Daisy, and a symbolic gesture, saying “Daisies are common flowers, but they grow through every condition.”

The Blue Origin mission was also met with criticism from officials, who hesitated to call the crew astronauts due to not meeting certain FAA criteria. The Federal Aviation Administration requires astronauts to demonstrate activities during flight that were essential to public safety or contributed to human space flight safety.

Rogan’s comments sparked debate about the training and qualifications of female astronauts, saying “Let’s celebrate female astronauts because a lot of men astronauts have to go through more rigorous training.” He also poked fun at the idea of calling the Blue Origin crew astronauts due to their automated flight.

The singer later faced backlash for her reaction upon landing back on Earth, where she kissed the Texas dirt after the space trip. Wendy’s even mocked her over the stunt, asking if she could be sent back because of it.

Perry defended her actions, saying the experience was the second greatest thing she has done, behind being a mom. She explained that she wanted to model courage, worthiness, and fearlessness by participating in the historic crew.
