Jets Consider Trading for Lions’ Jameson Williams

The New York Jets are exploring options to add a new weapon to their offense, pairing star receiver Garrett Wilson. With little pass-catching talent on the roster outside of Wilson, a trade for Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams could be a game-changer. According to Sports Illustrated, Williams may become available via trade before Detroit decides on his fifth-year contract option on May 1.

Jets general manager Darren Mougey has expressed interest in picking up the fifth-year options on Wilson and fellow first-round picks Sauce Gardner and Jermaine Johnson. Adding Williams would give the Jets another key player from their 2022 draft class, with the former Alabama star having a breakout season in 2024, earning 58 catches for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns.

Williams’ speed is a major asset, and his connection to new coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who were both part of the Lions staff during his career, could be beneficial. However, Williams has been less than thrilled about trade rumors, posting on Instagram that “loyalty before all things.” Despite this, the Jets’ pursuit of Williams suggests they see him as a valuable addition to their offense.
