Nintendo Switch 2 Now Available For Pre-Order at $450

Nintendo has announced that pre-orders for the highly anticipated Switch 2 console will begin on April 24, with the device set to launch in the US and Canada on June 5. The price of the console remains unchanged from its original announcement, with the base model starting at $450.

In a surprise move, President Trump’s decision to delay pre-orders due to tariffs was reversed, allowing Nintendo to stick with the original pricing. However, the company has hinted that it may adjust prices for some accessories in the future.

For those interested in purchasing the Switch 2, retailers such as Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart will be offering pre-orders starting on April 24. Directly from Nintendo, users must be at least 18 years old to pre-order, with a Nintendo account required to register interest.

To take advantage of priority access, Switch Online subscribers who have paid for their membership in the past year can receive an invitation email within 72 hours of registering their interest.

The new console features several improvements over its predecessor, including a larger 7.9-inch LCD screen, a built-in microphone, and improved internal speakers. The device will also support faster refresh rates and HDR, making it suitable for gaming on 4K TVs.

In addition to the base model, a bundle with Mario Kart World is available for pre-order, starting at $500. Nintendo has confirmed that the console’s storage capacity has increased to 256GB, expandable via microSD Express cards.

More details on the Switch 2’s accessories and their updated prices can be found in Nintendo’s official statement.
