Google has agreed to pay Samsung an “enormous sum” every month for preinstalling its Gemini generative AI app on Samsung devices, despite previous findings that the practice violates antitrust laws. The payments started in January, according to Google’s vice president of platforms and device partnerships, Peter Fitzgerald. This arrangement is part of a Justice Department investigation into potential antitrust violations by Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google.
