The AI mistakenly identified expressions like “Two buses going in the wrong direction is better than one going the right way” as a metaphor for teamwork and support. Another phrase, “Never put a tiger in a Michelin-star kitchen,” was interpreted as a warning about handling high-pressure situations.
However, some of these explanations are laughable, like the one for “Wine poured from the sky won’t make you fly.” Google’s AI struggled to provide a logical explanation and ended up comparing it to avoiding drunk driving. Other phrases, such as “Don’t milk the ghost cow” and “Always pack extra batteries for your milkshake,” left Google’s AI baffled.
The phenomenon is a result of Google’s AI making up its own interpretations, often relying on wordplay or references from popular culture. While these hallucinations can be amusing, they also highlight the limitations of current language models.
