Google Discover Feed Gets Social Media Posts

Google’s Discover feed is changing with new social media posts added to the mix. The updates come after a recent full-width redesign, but functionality remains unchanged. Users have started reporting social media accounts and posts appearing in their feeds.

The change could shift away from news-led content and towards real-time updates. However, it’s unclear how widespread this rollout is or if it’s an A/B test for select users. Instead of traditional news stories, a carousel of recent posts appears, showcasing content from Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, and possibly more platforms.

Video content from YouTube is being related to specific events, pushing users towards other platforms based on their interests. Specific accounts, like Sundar Pichai’s Twitter profile, display a banner with the latest post. The change could help reduce spam and questionable clickbait in Discover feed posts.
