The New York Times has announced two new co-hosts for its popular “The Daily” podcast news show: Rachel Abrams and Natalie Kitroeff. Abrams, a former Variety staffer, will join Michael Barbaro, the current host, while Kitroff, the paper’s Mexico City bureau chief, will start as a co-host in June.
The move is seen as an effort to innovate and experiment with the show. “Having multiple hosts allowed us to explore new ideas,” said Joe Kahn, executive editor of The Times. Abrams brings experience from her time as senior producer and reporter for “The New York Times Presents” and previous work at Variety. Kitroff, who has covered high-profile topics such as cartels’ drug trade and corruption, will bring a strong reporting background to the show.
Barbaro welcomed the new additions, saying they are “fearless reporters and passionate believers in audio storytelling.” Abrams has already hosted several episodes of “The Daily,” including notable segments with Jeffrey Goldberg. The new lineup aims to strengthen the team behind the show, making it more compelling for listeners.
