Adobe MAX 2023: Photoshop’s Revolutionary New Actions Panel

Adobe has revolutionized the way creatives work with its new and improved Actions panel in Photoshop. The reimagined panel retains its previous functionality while introducing several game-changing features.

The new Actions panel understands the content of images, anticipating adjustments users are likely to make. For instance, when opening an image of a landscape, it presents options such as “Replace Sky” or “Vintage Look.” Users can also request an adjustment via text prompt, allowing for precise control over modifications made by Photoshop.

A notable addition is the ability to create layers with specific tools used for adjustments. This enables users to fine-tune their work without needing extensive knowledge of the software’s technical interface. Adobe aims to empower users to utilize as many features as possible, ensuring a seamless workflow.

Furthermore, Adobe has introduced a Mood Board module in its Firefly AI engine. This feature allows users to input text prompts and generate images tailored to specific requirements. Users can select from various AI generators, including Adobe’s own Firefly Image 3, Firefly Image 4, and Firefly Image 4 Ultra, as well as non-Adobe models such as FLUX 11 Pro and FLUX 11 Ultra.

The Mood Board module makes it easy to present all generated images together in a variety of aspect ratios. Users can resize images to give specific ones more significance. This feature significantly streamlines workflows, allowing creatives to focus on more creative tasks.

By incorporating these features, Adobe is taking a creator-friendly stance by respecting creators’ rights and only training its AI on licensed content. As Stephen Neilson, Senior Product Manager for Photoshop, said, “We’re building our AI in the most creator-friendly way in the entire industry.”
