Logan Thompson Makes Show-Stopping Saves as Caps Lead 2-0 in Series

Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson made several spectacular saves to help his team defeat the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. The highlight-reel save that he made on Jake Evans was initially thought to be a game-saver, but it actually went off the post.

Thompson’s performance in the third period was instrumental in securing the win for his team. He made 14 of his 25 saves, including several huge stops against Josh Anderson, Christian Dvorak, and Juraj Slafkovsky. The crowd erupted in cheers as Thompson made each save, with fans chanting “LT! LT!” and giving him a standing ovation.

Thompson’s return to the ice was marked by a newfound sense of urgency, having missed two games due to injury. He had been working hard to regain his form and was selected as the first star of Game 2. Coach Spencer Carbery praised Thompson’s performance, saying that he “wins us that game in the third period.”

The Canadiens had several opportunities to tie the score, but Thompson’s incredible saves kept them at bay. The Capitals took a 3-1 lead into the final minutes of the game and held on for the victory.

Thompson’s second game back from injury was a resounding success, and he is now looking forward to the challenges of the playoffs. “I knew I wasn’t going to get a game before playoffs,” he said. “Just staying ready in practice, working as hard as I can and just waiting to see if I get my name called.”
