Volkswagen and Uber have announced a strategic partnership to deploy thousands of all-electric, fully autonomous ID. Buzz AD vehicles across multiple US markets over the next decade. The testing phase is set to begin later this year, with the first commercial launch expected in Los Angeles in 2026.
The vehicles will be equipped with MOIA’s integrated solution for autonomous driving, which includes a comprehensive self-driving system and a proprietary Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) ecosystem tailored for autonomous operations. This solution combines an OEM-grade, autonomous-ready vehicle with intelligent fleet control, operational software, and end-to-end service management.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in the advancement of autonomous mobility and highlights both companies’ shared dedication to building the future of transportation. The deployment is expected to introduce the reimagined ID. Buzz Microbus in all-electric form to a growing number of riders.
“We’re shaping the future of mobility and accelerating our vision through this partnership with Uber,” said Christian Senger, CEO of Volkswagen Autonomous Mobility. “Our combined expertise will combine high-volume manufacturing expertise with cutting-edge technology and deep understanding of urban mobility needs.”
The collaboration is expected to bring about transformational changes in mobility and unleash the potential of autonomous vehicles. With this partnership, Volkswagen aims to realize its vision of introducing autonomous mobility solutions to a growing number of riders worldwide.
