Anker Soundcore has issued a recall for its A3102 and A3302 Bluetooth Speakers due to overheating lithium-ion batteries that can cause a fire hazard. About 69,000 units were affected worldwide, including 9,764 in Canada.
Consumers who own these speakers are advised to immediately stop using them and power them off. They should not be connected to any external power source or charger until further notice. To verify the speaker’s serial number (SN Code) and fill out product recall information, customers can visit Anker’s website or contact their customer support at 800-988-7973.
The recall affects speakers with models A3102016, A3302011, and A3302031. Affected units can be identified by the SN Code visible on the underside of the Bluetooth Speakers. Consumers should dispose of recalled batteries in accordance with local and state regulations, as they are considered hazardous waste.
So far, there have been 33 reports of overheating incidents, including some that resulted in smoking and small fires. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is investigating these incidents and will provide further instructions on how to obtain a replacement speaker free of charge.
Consumers can report any product-related injuries or concerns to the CPSC’s hotline at 800-638-2772 or visit their website for more information.
