NASA Captures Starship Launch Footage from ISS

SpaceX’s Starship, the world’s most powerful rocket, recently launched from its Starbase site in Boca Chica, Texas, as part of continued testing. The launch was captured by external cameras aboard the International Space Station (ISS) about 250 miles away.

The footage shows the Starship heading skyward with the Texas coastline and Gulf of Mexico visible in the frame. SpaceX’s sixth test flight was deemed a success, marking progress towards its Artemis III mission, the first crewed return to the moon in over 50 years.

The Starship consists of two main parts: the Super Heavy booster, which packs 17 million pounds of thrust at launch, and the upper-stage Starship spacecraft. The vehicle’s success is crucial for reducing the cost of space missions through reusable boosters.

Unlike its smaller Falcon 9 rocket, SpaceX uses mechanical arms to secure the Super Heavy booster after deployment, allowing for quick refurbishment and reuse. This method reduces weight and improves flight efficiency.
