Rare Celestial Event Forms ‘Smiley Face’ in the Sky

A rare “triple conjunction” occurred on Friday, April 25, when Venus, Saturn, and a thin crescent moon aligned in the sky, creating a formation resembling a smiling face. This phenomenon was visible to the naked eye just before sunrise and could be observed with binoculars or a telescope.

Three celestial bodies appeared close together in the night sky, marking a rare event in astronomy. NASA Ambassador Brenda Culbertson explained that Venus was higher above the eastern horizon, while Saturn was lower and slightly farther north. The crescent moon looked like a smile, forming what some people described as a smiley face.
