Carolina Panthers have engaged in pre-draft trade talks with other teams regarding edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. The talks, which occurred before the draft entered its third day, cast uncertainty over Clowney’s future with the team.
General Manager Dan Morgan was asked about Clowney’s role in 2025, but he remained noncommittal. “We’re still working through the roster and talking things through,” Morgan said. “Our focus is on the draft right now.”
Clowney, 32, is set to enter his final season under a two-year deal with Carolina. He will count $13.775 million against the salary cap after recording 5.5 sacks last year. With a career total of 58 sacks in 11 years, Clowney’s production has been inconsistent, with a maximum of 9.5 sacks in a single season.
