GSC Game World’s publishing director, Ievgen Grygorovych, believes that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl had to launch despite numerous bugs and delays. “At some point the bread gotta come out the oven it’s just how it goes,” he said in a recent interview. This sentiment is echoed by Larian Studios’ publishing director Michael Douse on Twitter.
The game’s long development period and multiple delays made it challenging for the team to fine-tune every aspect of the game before launch. Grygorovych stated that even with more time, there was never a point where everything was perfectly flawless. The team had to consider the end-of-year sales period, which pushed them to release the game as soon as possible.
Since launch, GSC Game World has been releasing updates to address the bugs and issues, but it’s clear that launching the game now was the only option. Grygorovych emphasized that the team couldn’t just delay again due to exhaustion and time constraints. The game’s success is a testament to the team’s hard work, despite its imperfect launch state.
