The Minnesota Vikings made two trades on Saturday ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, adding quarterback Sam Howell to their roster. The team sent the 172nd overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for the 201st and 202nd overall selections. This move comes after trading the 97th pick to Houston on Friday night.
The Vikings had previously traded WR Tai Felton at 102, but General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah worked out a deal with Houston to acquire the 142nd overall pick. Minnesota used this pick and the 172nd overall pick to select Georgia DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins at 139th overall. However, they still had two picks remaining.
The team is now looking to maximize the impact of each pick as they have four selections in total. In a related move on Friday, the Vikings traded the 97th and 187th picks to Houston for the 102nd and 142nd overall picks. Minnesota selected WR Tai Felton with their new pick at 102.
Minnesota had previously acquired quarterback Sam Howell from Washington, who was originally drafted in 2022. Howell played college football for North Carolina and holds school records for touchdown passes and yards thrown. The Vikings’ draft strategy is focused on making the most of each pick to complement their free agency haul.
