Google has announced that it will stop supporting the Nest Learning Thermostat (1st Gen) and Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd Gen), marking the end of life for these devices. The support cut-off date is October 25, 2025. Although the devices will still function from the device itself, users can expect limitations in accessing features through the Nest and Google Home apps.
Key changes include:
– Removal from app control: Devices will no longer be remotely controlled or monitored through the Nest and Google Home apps.
– Disconnection from third-party assistants: Older thermostats will lose access to connected features like Home/Away Assist.
– Loss of emergency shut-offs: Nest Protects will disconnect, and emergency shut-offs will no longer function.
However, users can upgrade to the new 4th Gen Nest Learning Thermostat with a discounted price of $149.99 ($130 off retail), provided by Google. This offer aims to facilitate a smooth transition for those still using older models.
