Israel-Gaza Ceasefire Plan Proposed Amid Ongoing Conflict

A senior Palestinian official has revealed that Qatari and Egyptian mediators have proposed a new ceasefire plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, lasting between five to seven years. The plan requires Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, the release of all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and a formal end to the war.

The proposal follows the collapse of the previous ceasefire last month, when Israel resumed bombing Gaza. At least 26 Palestinians were killed and 60 others injured by Israeli air strikes over the past 24 hours.

Israel has not commented on the plan. Meanwhile, Hamas delegation members are set to arrive in Cairo for consultations with Egyptian mediators.

The proposal comes as tensions remain high, with Hamas having rejected Israel’s previous offer of a six-week truce in exchange for disarmament. The Palestinian official described the current mediation effort as “serious” and noted that Hamas has shown “unprecedented flexibility”.

The conflict has resulted in over 51,000 Palestinian civilian deaths since October 7th, with thousands more injured.
