The Pittsburgh Steelers have added 14 new players to their roster over the weekend, including seven draft picks and seven undrafted free agents. With the current count of 90 players, the team’s roster is taking shape heading into the next phase of the offseason.
As of now, the Steelers’ roster features 3 quarterbacks, with Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Skylar Thompson listed as the current starters. The offensive line consists of 14 players, including Broderick Jones, Isaac Seumalo, Zach Frazier, and Calvin Anderson, among others.
The running back position boasts seven players, including Jaylen Warren, Kaleb Johnson, Kenneth Gainwell, and Cordarrelle Patterson. In contrast to last year’s roster, which had only 3 running backs, the Steelers have significantly bolstered this unit with several new additions.
On the receiving end, there are 10 wide receivers on the roster, with George Pickens, D.K. Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, and Roman Wilson being among them. The tight end/fullback position is comprised of six players, including Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, and Connor Heyward.
The defensive line has 13 players, including Cameron Heyward, Keeanu Benton, and Montravius Adams. Notably, the outside linebacker group has gained more depth with the addition of seven new players. The inside linebacking unit features seven players, including Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson, and Malik Harrison.
Finally, the Steelers have two punters (Cameron Johnston and Corliss Waitman) and one kicker (Ben Sauls), as well as a single long snapper, Christian Kuntz.
While some changes may still occur between now and the season opener, the current roster presents several questions: Which position groups are looking strongest? Where does the team need to address its weaknesses? And is there an unheralded talent waiting to make an impact in the final 53-man roster? Share your thoughts with fellow Steelers fans.
