Kim Kardashian’s Paris Jewellery Heist Trial Underway

Kim Kardashian will travel to Paris next week to give evidence against 10 people, including “grandpa robbers” accused of stealing millions of dollars worth of jewellery from her in 2016.

The reality TV star was held at gunpoint in her apartment during Paris fashion week in 2016. The suspects, wearing ski masks and clothes with police markings, tied Kardashian up before making off with a $4 million engagement ring given to her by her then-husband Kanye West.

Kardashian will not comment ahead of the trial, but her legal team said she is preserving her testimony for the court. Ten people are set to go on trial in total, with five facing armed robbery and kidnapping charges, while others face charges related to complicity or possessing an unauthorized weapon.

One of the accused, Yunice Abbas, 71, has admitted his participation in the robbery, stating he struggled financially as a pensioner who had spent years in jail. The men fled on bicycles with an estimated $9 million in loot, but one of them fell off and lost some jewels.

DNA traces found on plastic bands used to tie Kardashian’s wrists helped police make arrests the following January. The trial is set to run for almost a month, with Kardashian’s testimony expected to be key evidence against the defendants.
