After season 3 of Fire Country concluded with a deadly finale, two main cast members are leaving the show. Stephanie Arcila, who plays Gabriela, will not be returning for season 4 after three seasons on the series. Her departure was confirmed by executive producers Joan Rater, Tony Phelan, and Tia Napolitano in an interview.
Arcila’s character faced off against a stalker in the finale, but it appears her storyline has come to an end. The exact circumstances surrounding her exit are unclear, with Arcila reportedly only learning about her departure during filming of the season finale.
Billy Burke’s character, Vince, is also expected to leave the show after his story arc reached its conclusion in the explosive finale. While executive producers were tight-lipped about the future of the character, they acknowledged that the decision was made to create a new dynamic for the show.
The move to shake up the cast comes as the show’s creators aim to maintain creative control and continue writing authentic stories about the heroes on the series. In an interview, Rater stated that the goal is to never make the audience feel complacent, but instead create lean-in moments where the stakes are always high.
