Former WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green recently opened up about her experience navigating the crowded field of aspiring wrestlers in the company. Born and raised in Canada, Green said she had to create a unique story and character to stand out.
Green discussed how her background as a Caucasian woman from Canada may have worked against her when trying to get hired by WWE. “We want diversity in WWE,” she emphasized. “We want something special.”
To differentiate herself, Green focused on developing her character work in the ring and creating a distinct persona. This approach paid off when she returned to WWE in January 2023, taking on the comedic “Karen” character and later becoming Women’s United States Champion.
Green has continued to build on this character, incorporating elements of American and presidential flair, including the introduction of her loyal allies, Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, known as the Secret Service. The Secret Service was born out of Green’s desire to protect her title from challenges, showcasing her unique approach to character development and storytelling in WWE.
