Memphis DB Kobee Minor Becomes NFL’s 50th ‘Mr. Irrelevant’

Kobee Minor, a defensive back from Memphis, was selected by the New England Patriots with the No. 257 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, officially becoming the Mr. Irrelevant of this year’s event.

Minor, who played for three different colleges during his five-year collegiate career, has experience suiting up for Texas Tech, Indiana, and Memphis. His best campaign came at Memphis last season, where he recorded 38 tackles, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and two sacks. Minor is now competing with other defensive backs for a roster spot in the Patriots’ secondary.

The Patriots initially picked at No. 228 overall but traded their way up to secure Minor with the final pick. They also acquired the No. 251 overall pick, which they used on Vanderbilt’s Julian Ashby, a long snapper drafted for the first time since 2021. The team was eager to secure Ashby before he became an undrafted free agent, and Minor now joins him in his NFL journey.
