SpaceX launched a milestone mission on April 27, sending 23 new Starlink broadband satellites into orbit. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 10:09 p.m. EDT and successfully deployed the satellites in low Earth orbit about an hour later.
The launch was SpaceX’s 250th Starlink mission, marking a significant milestone for the company’s satellite constellation project. The rocket’s first stage landed on the SpaceX drone ship “Just Read the Instructions” in the Atlantic Ocean, while the upper stage completed its job as planned.
This launch brings the total number of operational Starlink satellites to over 7,200, with more than 8,400 satellites launched since the first dedicated Starlink mission in May 2019. The company continues to expand its megaconstellation network, which is growing all the time.
