Chinese firms Alibaba and Tencent are acquiring Nvidia’s restricted H20 chips from ByteDance’s stockpile as demand for computing power surges due to AI adoption and tightened export restrictions. The tech giants ordered at least $16 billion worth of the chips in Q1, with many opting for an upgraded version featuring high-bandwidth memory used in Nvidia’s Blackwell series.
